Penn State and Cal U Award Jobs to Massaro CM Services, LLC
July 2008 - Massaro CM Services, LLC is proud to announce two new projects. Massaro will be providing preconstruction services at Penn State University main campus for the Henderson Bridge Replacement and at California University of Pennsylvania for the Roadman Park Projects.
The Henderson Bridge Replacement at University Park, PA is in the conceptual design phase and will proceed as a two phase project. Massaro CM Services will provide preconstruction services throughout the design process and will assist the university with bidding the project. The first phase consists of demolishing the bridge, which currently connects Henderson North with Henderson South, and constructing a new 78,500 square foot building to replace the existing bridge. The second phase consists of the demolition of the south and west wings of Henderson South and the construction of a 71,600 square foot addition as well as some minor renovations to the remaining north wing of the building. The first phase is scheduled to begin in late summer of 2009 with estimated construction costs of $36 million. Phase II is planned to begin in 2011 with construction costs of approximately $43 million. Massaro CM Services will be working in conjunction with the university and the architect, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson (BCJ), to handle the many constructability challenges presented by the project’s location with the Old Main corridor on the west, the HUB lawn on the east and College Avenue to the south.
The Roadman Park Projects at California University of PA consists of several new athletic facilities designed by L. Robert Kimball and Associates as well as some much needed infrastructure improvements. The field house complex is a new practice facility consisting of 116,000 square foot pre-engineered metal building that will house a new 300 meter track and several field events. It also contains an indoor synthetic multipurpose field for football, soccer and baseball. Additions to the field house also include a 34,500 square foot locker room building for multiple sports teams and a 2,840 square foot garage and storage area to facilitate maintenance and store equipment when not in use. A new synthetic surface soccer field will be placed adjacent to the field house, and it includes a 500 seat grandstand with press box for announcing events and to provide an area for the video recording of all sporting events. There will also be six new NCAA regulation tennis courts and a concession stand to provide food and beverage at the matches.
