Pittsburgh Public Schools to Renovate Frick
March 2009 - Massaro CM Services, LLC was recently awarded a construction management contract from Pittsburgh Public Schools for the renovation of its existing Frick building, located at 107 Thackery Street in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood. Plans for the Frick building include a full interior renovation to approximately 1/3 of an existing 129,072 square foot, four-story building. The project involves the renovation of 11 large and flexible, exploratory “lab” classrooms and the addition of a new elevator tower. Construction of this $10 million project is expected to begin in mid-June 2009.
When complete the building will house grades six through 12 to include science, technology, engineering and mathematics classrooms. This Magnet School will be known as the Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy at Frick. The building will open in the fall of 2009 with 250 students in grades six through nine. Each year thereafter, an additional grade will be added until the school reaches full capacity of 550 students.
